United Kingdom may send Typhoon jets to patrol Ukraine’s skies and strengthen air defense (X @RoyalAirForce)
The United Kingdom is considering sending Typhoon jets to patrol Ukraine’s skies as an alternative to sending a large contingent of peacekeeping troops.
The mission would follow a model similar to that conducted in the Baltic States, where British aircraft monitor and respond to Russian air threats.
However, anonymous government sources highlight that the operation would require a significant number of aircraft and air defense systems, and the discussions are still in the early stages. Should the proposal move forward, the jets would be based in Poland, allowing for a rapid response to attacks.
Before the Russian invasion, the United Kingdom had already conducted military exercises in Ukrainian airspace, such as the “Cossack Mace 2021“, in which Typhoons participated in the aerial portion of the training. Furthermore, there are indications that the British government is also considering sending peacekeeping forces to ensure compliance with future agreements.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer argues that the UK’s willingness to send troops should encourage NATO allies, particularly Germany, to publicly support the creation of a European peacekeeping force in Ukraine. This move would reinforce Europe’s commitment to regional security and increase pressure on Russia.

The @Eurofighter Typhoon is more than an aircraft.
It has a hugely capable radar, defensive aids sub-system, as well as advanced avionics that keep the jet connected with friendly aircraft, and controllers on the ground.#TopGunsC4https://t.co/xnelVembYR pic.twitter.com/RTzgeHYpKC
